Queer trends in reading habits of school children !!!

A friend of mine conducted a survey on about 60 school kids to find if any particular factors controlled their choice of fiction books they read, and he recorded very queer observations. Mind you, these readers ranged from casual to very experienced readers; some had the history of reading only what the syllabus had to offer, while others ranged from Rowling to Martin to Tolkien to Archer and a lot others. The casual readers, had queer factors that controlled their choice of fiction. Length of story- The most common factor the casual readers looked for was the length of the story. Any story more than 6000-7000 words was sure to be straight-forwardly rejected by them. Some preferred to get a short summary of the long story rather read it from start to end. Author's fame- 'Don't judge a book by its cover', they say; but in the sample space, almost all judged a story by fame of its author. This effect went to the extent that genuine likeness for specific genres was

JEE Counseling, Conventions And Parents

I hate Indian Education system. I think that as I grow up, I might find something due to which my parents and some other people regards it so high. But it never happens. Every new encounter of mine leaves me even more disappointed. This post is about my disgusting while the choice filling process of JOSSA. JOSSA's/NIC's website India is now one of the biggest IT capitals of the modern world and all the major players in the world IT sector are present in the country We hear a ton about Digital India and Smart City these days. On the other hand, I use absolute websites like JOSSA and JAC Delhi made by NIC , the premier technology organization of India's Union Government in informatics services. Its authentication system is extremely buggy. The website is extremely slow(I used it on net connection with a speed of 5MBps). I never talk about UI/UX of government websites. They are, as usual, non-existence. A student usually chooses more than 20 choices.

Control Someone Else's Arm With Your Brain

Image
Have you ever had the desire to lose your free will? Or, alternatively, have you ever had the desire to take someone's free will? Yes?  You are in for a real treat! We have all seen the magic. And this, like the others, is all science. We can control others arms with our brain. Yes, it's true. We were going to connect two wires on your elbows. And two wires on the other person's elbow. And BOOM. If you move your arm now, the other person will not be able to move his arm according to his own will. Isn't it the coolest brain hack ever? See this video (TED Talk by Greg) to learn more. I know! I have been there. I was thrilled after watching this. You can build this device yourself. Yup, that's true too. All it takes is a simple DIY kit. After All, Greg Gage's aim is to make brain science accessible to all. You can find everything you need to make this device on Backyard Brains , founded by Greg himself. Below is the link to the detailed instru

How to go about writing a story - I

Image
So you are all set to write a story. But a question pops up in your mind- where do I start from? If such is the case, you may find the following things useful. The Three Divisions: One of the basic moves will be to divide your story into portions. There may be as many portions as you like; I personally like them to be a minimum of three. They are: Setup, Confrontation, and Resolution. Let's discuss them one by one. Setup:  In the setup, we provide the introduction. We must provide the introduction to our world where the story is set, our characters, and their relationship. You may also provide details like weather, economic conditions, political conditions, and other such things. You can approach it on two ways: Author explanation: Here the author explains the surroundings. Below is an example:      " In those times when the world was colonized, there was a small island off the coast of Peru, where the warm Peru current always kept the climate humid. In this hot la
